"Why is Acha working so much ? "
Its always better if you can switch off your logical side before listening to her story, otherwise you have to scratch your head a lot to imagine a donut eating plant!!!
So one of those days, while my husband was telling a story, suddenly he got a work call. Before going any further I would like to add that he has been working pretty hard these days, I mean fully occupied with work, this story telling is the only bonding time which she is getting from him these days.
So as I was telling, he got a work call in the middle of our family night time routine, and apparently it happened to be an 'urgent' work thing. So he told us to carry on and he left to do his work.
And that's when she asked me " Amma , why is Acha working so much ? "
I felt an ache in my heart hearing that. Considering the fact that he was the primary care taker of her before the Corona days, and now she is hardly getting time to spend with her dad. Definitely this is making her sad. I just told some made up thing, and she was okay with the answer somehow, and we continued our routine.
Once she went to sleep, I started thinking about her question. Why? Why do we all work too much ? Is it actually because the work is that demanding? Really ? Or we just like to keep ourselves busy, so that we don't feel insecure about our existence. Are we really in charge of our lives? Or do we just keep on doing things without even pausing for a moment and thinking, why actually we are doing it ?
Of course work is really important. Each and every individual has their own duties, responsibilities and passion. And definitely we need money for our needs too.
Also I believe each individual has a unique purpose in life. But do we actually give importance to 'LIVE'
I mean 'Being Alive', and not just keep on repeating the things because that's how we are 'supposed to live'...
Life is not something which we should start after our retirement or enjoy only on weekends. Each day is precious and nobody knows how many days we have in this beautiful planet...
An inspiring line from the book which I am presently reading (Like the Flowing River: Thoughts and Reflections
):
"Work is a blessing when it helps us to think about what we're doing; but it becomes a curse when its sole use is to stop us thinking about the meaning of our life"
I wish we all find a way to fulfill our duties without missing any of the magical moments in our life...
Let us find the beauty in small things....
